Spark and Angel Aligner are two clear aligner systems we offer at Parramatta Dentistry as alternatives to Invisalign. They have the same fee range at our practice, so the decision usually comes down to how each system suits your case and how the trays feel.

Who makes them

Spark is made by Ormco, a US orthodontic company with a long history in braces; Ormco says Spark is manufactured in the USA. Angel Aligner is made by Angelalign Technology, founded in Shanghai in 2003 and listed in Hong Kong.

Material and design

Ormco says TruGEN is designed to stay clear, resist staining and keep consistent contact with the teeth. Angelalign says masterControl S applies steady force, and promotes its Intelligent Root System and angelButton and angelAttach designs. Both are manufacturer descriptions, and independent comparisons between the two are limited.

What treatment looks like

With either system you’ll have a complimentary consultation, a 3D scan, a digital plan to review, then trays changed at home with check-ups every 6 to 10 weeks. Both are designed to be worn full-time apart from meals and cleaning.

Cost at Parramatta Dentistry

Spark and Angel Aligner both range from $3,700 to $8,490, which is $500 less than Invisalign at each end of its $4,200 to $8,990 range. Your fee is confirmed after your assessment.

How to decide

For many cases either would work. Your dentist will recommend one based on the movements needed, and you’re welcome to ask questions about both. Risks and limitations

Whichever brand you choose, aligners aren’t suitable for every case and results vary. Expect pressure or tenderness with each new set, a brief adjustment period for speech, and the need to remove trays to eat. Treatment depends on wearing aligners 20 to 22 hours a day; attachments or interproximal reduction may be needed, and teeth can drift back if retainers aren’t worn. Any invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner. See treatment risks for more.
