Spark is a clear aligner system from Ormco, a US company with a long history in orthodontics, including the brackets and wires used in braces. At Parramatta Dentistry it is one of three aligner systems we offer, along with Invisalign and Angel Aligner.
Spark trays are worn over your teeth and changed on a schedule, moving your teeth a little at a time. Your consultation is complimentary, and we’ll explain whether Spark, another aligner or braces suits your case. Compare all our clear aligner options.
These are the manufacturer’s descriptions. Independent studies comparing Spark directly with other brands are still limited.
Spark may suit adults and older teens with crowding, gaps, some bite issues or relapse after earlier braces. We check your gums, existing restorations and bite first. If your case would be better treated with fixed braces or by a specialist orthodontist, we’ll tell you.
| Item | Fee at Parramatta Dentistry |
|---|---|
| Consultation (OPG x-ray, exam, photos) | Complimentary |
| Spark aligner treatment | $3,700 to $8,490, depending on complexity |
| Additional Essix or Vivera retainers | $150 per arch, $300 per set |
Your fee is confirmed in writing after your assessment. Interest-free payment plans may be available, subject to approval by our external providers, and extras cover with orthodontic benefits may contribute.
At our practice Spark is $500 less than Invisalign at each end of the fee range. Both use clear trays and digital planning; they differ in material and software. Read Spark aligners vs Invisalign or Spark vs Angel Aligner for more detail.
Clear aligners are not suitable for every bite, and results differ from person to person. Most people feel some pressure for a day or two with each new set, and speech can feel slightly different at first. You’ll need to take the trays out to eat and to drink anything except water. Treatment relies on wearing aligners 20 to 22 hours a day; if they’re worn less, teeth may not follow the plan and extra aligners or more time may be needed. Some plans need small tooth-coloured attachments or gentle polishing between teeth (interproximal reduction). Teeth can move back if retainers aren’t worn as directed, and decay or gum disease needs to be treated before you start.
Any invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner. Read more about treatment risks.
