Spark and Invisalign both straighten teeth with removable clear trays, and both are available at Parramatta Dentistry. If you’re deciding between them, it helps to know where they’re alike, where they differ and what each costs at our Hunter Street practice.

What they have in common
Both systems use a 3D scan of your teeth, a digital plan that maps each movement, and a series of trays changed on a schedule. Both may use small tooth-coloured attachments to help the trays grip, and both need retainers afterwards. For many cases, either would be suitable.
The manufacturers
Invisalign comes from Align Technology, which brought clear aligners to market in the late 1990s and has the longest track record. Spark comes from Ormco, a long-established orthodontic manufacturer best known for braces components; Ormco says Spark trays are made in the USA.
Tray material and feel
Align describes its SmartTrack material as designed for a close fit and consistent force. Ormco says its TruGEN material is designed to stay clear and resist staining. Some people notice a difference in feel or appearance, but comfort is personal, and any tray can stain if you drink coloured drinks while wearing it.
Cost at Parramatta Dentistry
Spark ranges from $3,700 to $8,490 and Invisalign from $4,200 to $8,990, so Spark is $500 less at each end of the range. Your fee depends on how much movement is needed and is confirmed after your assessment. Interest-free payment plans may be available, subject to approval by our external providers.
Making the choice
There isn’t one answer for everyone. Direct comparisons between the two are limited, and the planning and how well you wear the trays matter more than the logo on the box. We’ll talk through your case, your budget and your preferences. Learn more on our Spark aligners and Invisalign pages, or read Spark vs Angel Aligner and Angel Aligner vs Invisalign.
Risks and limitations
Whichever brand you choose, aligners aren’t suitable for every case and results vary. Expect pressure or tenderness with each new set, a brief adjustment period for speech, and the need to remove trays to eat. Treatment depends on wearing aligners 20 to 22 hours a day; attachments or interproximal reduction may be needed, and teeth can drift back if retainers aren’t worn. Any invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner. See treatment risks for more.
